WALL-E - Sunday

Description

WALL-E's gaze was empty, none of the awe and devotion EVE could recognize in his eyes. She salvaged what treasures of his collection she could, glancing in horror as the rebooted robot piled object upon object, all his precious things inside him. Coughing the objects into cubes, he ignored them and settled upon the next pile: it was his job to clear garbage, you know.

"WALL-E? WALL-E!?"

He didn't recognize the cockroach who befriended him, crushing it with his wheels before it could inflate itself back, flickering its antennae with frantic scuttles. EVE chased the trash-picking robot, trying to jog his memory, but he would have none of it. At last, the white robot had it. In last ditch effort, she let her hands unfold, grabbing the waste-picker by his busy, rusted hands.

"EVE! EVE! EVE!"

She held his hands. No response. She held his head, again looking for the wonder and admiration of all things in his pitiful, loving eyes. But all she could sense was a puppet; a doll for her to carry. A doll she loved, but it could never love her. Never again.

Under hibernation, WALL-E shared his feelings of being alone on a desolate planet and longing for someone to come and live with him. Now EVE was in his place; Earth would thrive with humans and robots, but the world was as deserted to her now as it had been before discovering the Plant.

Loneliness. How isolating.

For the first time in her life, EVE was alone.
--"For All That Tomorrow Might Bring (Sunday)" by me.

For All Tomorrow Might Bring would also be the name for the picture it was based on, but I didn't have room, so I had come up with a back-up name. Drat.

So, WALL-E fanart, an unfinished sketch scribbled at my brother's birthday on the back of a bowling flyer. It takes a movie that amazing to touch my heart to drop whatever I'm doing in my usual fandoms and draw something because the characters won't leave your head. I loved WALL-E for everything: the animation, the expressions, the cast (when we live in Robot Age, I'm keeping WALL-E, EVE and M-O as housekeeping bots! :D ), the dance sequences, retro nostalgia, abandoned "utopia" (and thriving dystopia alike!), likable humans who actually DO make me believe I got a piece of faith in humanity left, and poignant moments that make me wibble and feel my heart curl up on itself. :happytear::love::excited:

Oh, and Peter Gabriel's "Down to Earth" is the bounciest, most addictive and cutest Pixar theme ever. Not to say "You've Got a Friend in Me" doesn't come close, but damn, hard to beat the hardcoreness that is "Down to Earth". :wow::excited::sing::tunes::stereo: Makes me think of the Earthbound/Mother series too, but that's another subject. :giggle:

WALL-E and EVE are totally my #1 Pixar OTP, and it takes a LOT for me to say that, since I don't usually like Pixarmances. :lmao::date: They're so sweet dammit! And awwwwwwwwwww all the fluff and gooshieness and everything I love about them that I love in an OTP omgomg :smooch::hug::glomp::date::excited:

Nothing special about the pic really. I sketched it without reference, so likely I made a buncha mistakes. :XD: Tried to fix them a bit though, like adding lines to correct WALL-E's eyes so he wouldn't be mistaken for Famicon's R.O.B. :lmao: I was originally going to to leave it as an unfinished sketch (I ran out of time to finish the buildings, and I was too lazy to do more background work in the end. :XD::faint:), then I thought of coloring it, which I so incredibly bombed in... that is, until I desaturated everything. It looks MUCH better as an old photograph, and Puri thought it looked cool that way. :):D

Useless Trivia: It was in a production of HELO THAR DOLLY (aka Hello Dolly!) that my Mom and Dad auditioned and got parts to and first met, resulting in them falling in love and getting married. So I gotta thank Dolly for my existence. ;D

(Edit: My mom corrects me in saying that dad proposed to her in "Guys and Dolls". Whoops. ^^;)

Now go watch WALL-E! (And if you already seen it, go watch it again! :XD:) And Dark Knight. Buwahahahahaha. X3 :mwahaha:
